HowToCreateANewTemplate

What is a template

The templates allow you to display in the dialog 'Action' or in first page of module pre-filled documents. They can be usefull in case we have to create documents with similar informations in it. For example, in a project, many informations are common from one task to another, so it could be usefull to create a template for task on this project.

Lets see with this simple example :

Developer work

Templates are documents in the same portal_type than the document type you want have. In our case template will be Task portal_type. They are saved in the user preference so they are specific to each user. To make the user able to create it, you have to edit Preference portal_type to add Task to Allowed content types and Hidden content types.

User usage

Go into your task_modue, create a new task and set the data you want to be in the template. Set a explicit title like "Task template for Foo project". Clic on Action menu and chose "Make a Template" action. This will copy the current Document to your preference.

After this, you can add the template document going on the task module and use Action menu to chose the new action "Add Task template for Foo project". This will add the document you created before.
